Blog 7

I don't really like Ning.com because I don't like social networking. However, if you do like social networking, Ning would be great for you. you can create and manage your own social network. That said, I do like Dimdim.com because even though I don't do social networking, I can see the need for a web conference, and dimdim will do that for you.

Blog # 5

geni.com is a website that, given your first and last name, will trace you family tree. You can also use geni.com as a social networking site, for you family. This is very useful if you family members living far away or if you have a large family that you want to keep in contact with.

Twitter.com is like a blog; however it is to give updates on your everyday life used for very short entries. Twitter entries are limited to 140 characters, so if you have a lot to say maybe it's not so good, but if you like to make lots of small entries it's great. Still you can make lots of small entries on a normal blog. I don't understand the point of this website, and I don't like the fact that they limit the text so much.

Also, I've discovered a feature in excel that allows you to group cells together. They can then be used as a block. You can even show or hide them allowing you to work with small bits of data and cleaning up your spreadsheet without deleting you data.

Water Cool CPU

Water Cooling for CPU is up. I'm still working out a little bit of air from the tubes. still need to water coll the chip set and the video cards... eventually.

Nov. 5, 2008

I've learned a lot of new things about Microsoft Excel in the last two weeks. Some of the new features are better than others, but my favorite is the new Formula Auto-complete. It makes it so much easier to use excel.

New switches for the Tx

I
I've just added some Delrin vandal resistant switches. I put them in because they work a lot better than the plastic ones that come with the case, and they look cool too. They look even better when illuminated. They glow blue like a power LED or HDD LED. That silver one's going be replaced with another black one.

Here's a picture of the whole case, with the new buttons.

Thermaltake Mozart TX

This is the BIG box everything is going into!!!
It really is a large case with lots of room for whatever you want to put in it.
Dimensions
: (WxDxH), 12.99" x 14.17" X 28.35"
(For those on metric that's, 33 cm x 36 cm x 72 cm)

I wanted the inside black so... I painted it black.
the doors still need some paint but I put them on to show them to you... although now that I think about it I might just keep them as is.

Motherboard

This is the motherboard, also used from eBay, but it's a GREAT board. You should consider getting one(that is if it's not OLD by the time someone reads this).

CPU

Here's the CPU... well ok it's just the box, but you get it right? No... ok I'll put up another picture.

This is an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700.
It's a Quad-Core CPU and it's fast, for now.
I got it used on eBay, but it still works fine... I hope.

My Huge System Build

I've started building a new computer! So far I've got an ASUS Striker II Extreme for a motherboard, an Intel QX6700, some DDR3 from Crutial and a HUGE Thermaltake Mozart TX. but i just can't stop there. from my old system I'm going to take, 2 WesternDigital Raptor X hard drives (RAID 0) and four WesternDigital 500GB drives. To keep it all cool I'm working on a custom water cooling system, and to top it all off the part I bought brand new, an LG ggw-h10n blu-ray burner. Pictures coming soon...

Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is great, especially www.tadalist.com. It's very useful, as i tend to have a large amount of things to do at any one time. Also, http://www.college-cram.com/ is a great website because it helps you cram for college.

Midomi

http://www.midomi.com/ is for all those songs that you just don't know the name of. if you can sing or play or even humm some of the tune, Midomi should be able to find you the name of the song... sometimes. They say for best results you should give it at least 10 seconds of the song , but it's free so try experimenting with it.

KDE Partition Manager

http://freshmeat.net/ is a great site. It's a place where you can get lots of really usefull FREE software especially for Linux. One of my favorites is KDE Partition Manager. it's fairly new but it really helps if you have lots of drives!
